What was the interview process like?<br />
<strong>The</strong>re were three stages – an initial<br />
online application, where I had to create<br />
a 5 minute video, a group assessment<br />
and a final face-to-face interview with the<br />
regional MD. I felt properly valued as a<br />
potential permanent employee.<br />
How much responsibility do you have?<br />
Quite simply, they expect you to<br />
deliver and are really not afraid to give<br />
you responsibility – no matter which<br />
placement you’re doing. <strong>The</strong>y’ll push you<br />
to exceed your own goals but will always<br />
give invaluable support to help you<br />
achieve them.<br />

How has this experience exceeded<br />
your expectations?<br />
This is not just a year in industry – it’s a<br />
real job. And if you prove yourself, the<br />
opportunities are like no other. I may<br />
have been nervous on day one, but I<br />
found my stride really quickly. And as<br />
the year progressed I was even given<br />
responsibility for my own projects which<br />
had a real impact on the business.<br />
What is the office atmosphere like?<br />
It’s incredibly welcoming but also very<br />
professional. Everyone truly understands<br />
their own roles – creating a very clear cut<br />
environment.<br />
What has been your biggest<br />
challenge?<br />
For me, it was going into a store and<br />
basically taking the reins. A 20-year old,<br />
with little retail experience, managing<br />
people who’ve been there 20 years –<br />
it’s quite daunting. But I formed such a<br />
strong family bond with the team that it<br />
became the highlight of my placement.<br />
What advice would you give to<br />
students applying for your role?<br />
If you go in with a positive attitude and<br />
have determination, respect, resilience<br />
and an eagerness to learn – you’ll<br />
absolutely have the best year. I’ve<br />
completely changed as a person for the<br />
better and my maturity has skyrocketed.<br />
