What was the interview process like?<br />
I applied online sending my CV and<br />
covering letter. Following a successful<br />
telephone interview I was invited to<br />
attend a face-to-face interview. <strong>The</strong><br />
interview was very relaxed with general<br />
and technical questions. <strong>The</strong> day finished<br />
off with a tour of the site.<br />
How much responsibility do you have?<br />
A lot of responsibility! I lead important<br />
projects in two departments and manage<br />
them well. Everyone is always ready to<br />
help you if you need it. I’ve learnt several<br />
skills which will be useful in academia,<br />
my future career and life.<br />
What advice would you give to<br />
students applying for your role?<br />
Be yourself, but remain professional<br />
throughout the application process, the<br />
interview and during the placement.<br />
Build a good reputation for yourself and<br />
show them all your capabilities and great<br />
qualities.<br />

What do you most enjoy about your<br />
role?<br />
I really enjoyed leading projects and<br />
the fact that my work was making a<br />

Describe your biggest achievement?<br />
After this unique experience, I have<br />
become more confident in my actions and<br />
presentations. I developed many other<br />
skills which I never thought I would have<br />
developed in a short period of time but<br />
confidence was the main achievement for<br />
me.<br />
How has this experience exceeded<br />
your expectations?<br />
I was not expecting that a multinational<br />
company like BAT would invest a lot of<br />
time and money in students. We received<br />
technical training and also training on<br />
how to develop presentations and report<br />
writing skills. I also travelled outside the<br />
UK for work.<br />
What is the office atmosphere like?<br />
<strong>The</strong> office atmosphere was friendly and<br />
welcoming.<br />

experience! I learnt so much during these<br />
12 months. I’ve had the opportunity to<br />
work in many interesting areas, met a lot of<br />
