CRIME PREVENTION TIPS
DO NOT MAKE IT EASY FOR BURGLARS AND VEHICLE THIEVES -
YOU MAY NOT BE INSURED IF YOUR HOME OR VEHICLE DOORS
AND WINDOWS WERE LEFT UNLOCKED
Please make security to your home and vehicle
paramount to you. Begin a security regime and stick to it.
Lock your windows and doors, place keys and valuable
out of reach and out of sight
Don’t become lapse please.
Do not leave keys in your doors as this will encourage
thieves to damage your door and use the keys to gain
entry into your home.
Keep keys and valuables hidden from view at all times
and take upstairs with you each night before you retire.
Opportunistic thieves will try your front and back doors
looking for easy ways to get in and steal from you.
Ensure your vehicle is locked at all times and property is
either removed or hidden from view
You know what fits and what doesn’t fit in your vicinity, report anything
or anyone acting suspiciously and think security at all times, make it
difficult for them.
BURGLARIES
The strategic action plans put into place have significantly reduced
burglaries in your area and we are continuing with hi-vis patrols.
One property however did leave an insecure window which was sadly
entered by thieves
VEHICLE CRIME
We continue to work closely with CCTV operators, partner agencies
and local residents in the hot spot areas identified.
CCTV footage continues to be a fabulous tool in the fight against
vehicle and burglary crime and is very much welcomed and
appreciated by residents, thank you.
DOMESTIC BURGLARY
There have been five cases of Domestic Burglary in
the last month. These were on Augusta Close,
Followfield Drive, Moorlands Children’s Home on
Nick Road Lane and two cases on Dewhirst
Road.
There has also been one case of attempted
Domestic Burglary in the last month. This
was on Lowerfold Way.
VEHICLE CRIME
There have recently been nine cases of vehicle crime. This also includes
criminal damage to vehicles.
There have been seven cases of theft from a vehicle on Heights Lane,
Hollowbrook Way, Fallowfield Drive, Hill Stone Avenue, Hillkirk Drive
and Lowerfield Way.
There have also been two cases of theft of a vehicle. Unknown Offenders
stole a vehicle by unknown means on Newark Road, causing damage
and then leaving it on Tesco’s car park, Rochdale. There was also
another vehicle stolen on Heald Drive where two opportunistic thieves
approved an unsecure vehicle and conducted a search. They proceeded
to use a key for it and drive off, colliding with a parked vehicle on Heald
Close and made good their escape on foot.
