SUB-COMMITTEES<br />
306. A list of sub-committees needed to ensure a successful<br />
campaign has been compiled. Local conditions will dictate<br />
the degree to which a formal organization is required<br />
however, it must be remembered that the following<br />
responsibilities must be addressed, be it by a sub-committee<br />
or by an individual:<br />
a. Publicity and Promotion;<br />
b. School Distribution;<br />
c. Speakers Bureau Coordinator;<br />
d. Material and Supplies;<br />
e. Advance Sales, wreaths and crosses;<br />
f. Telephone and Communication;<br />
g. Area Planner and Dispatcher;<br />
h. Door-to-Door Canvassing;<br />
i. Office and Factory Canvassing;<br />
j. Mail Campaign; and<br />
k. <strong>Poppy</strong> Trust Fund Treasurer.<br />
l. <strong>Poppy</strong> Sticker program coordinator<br />
PUBLICITY AND PROMOTION CHAIRMAN<br />
307. The chairman responsible for the Publicity and Promotion<br />
Sub-Committee must be familiar with all of the promotional<br />
material that is available to assist with the campaign. The<br />
material is listed in the Promotional Material Catalogue,<br />
described in Chapter 2, and it can be ordered through the<br />
Provincial Command which orders all <strong>Poppy</strong> Promotional<br />
Material from Dominion Command supply system. This<br />
action should be taken well in advance of the campaign,<br />
early to mid summer is best. In addition to knowing what<br />
is available to assist with publicity, the member is also<br />
responsible for:<br />
a. ensuring that branch members understand the theme<br />
of the campaign and have sufficient detail to discuss it<br />
with others. In order to ensure that everybody is aware<br />
of the plan, a briefing is required well in advance of the<br />
campaign;<br />
b. being familiar with video tapes that have a Remembrance<br />
theme, which are shown in the Promotional Material<br />
Catalogue and included on the <strong>Poppy</strong> Promotional<br />
Material Order Form;<br />
c. implementing Remembrance activities for local schools.<br />
These activities must be planned well in advance and<br />
cooperation, advice and assistance must be sought<br />
from teachers, administrators and school boards. The<br />
following is a list of the major activities involved with<br />
the school program.<br />
