Affiliate Members<br />

Persons who are Affiliate Members are not eligible to receive<br />

<strong>Poppy</strong> Trust Fund assistance.<br />

Allied Forces<br />

This term applies to persons who are serving or have served<br />

with Canada’s allies during war.<br />

Associate Members<br />

Persons who are Associate Members are not eligible to receive<br />

<strong>Poppy</strong> Trust Fund assistance. The only exception is those<br />

persons who are residing with their parents, they are wholly<br />

dependant upon them for support and they are not receiving<br />

welfare assistance, a pension from any government source,<br />

or funds from employment insurance, manpower training or<br />

similar government program. There are few, if any, Associate<br />

Members who meet this criteria.<br />

Branch<br />

This term means a body of persons fulfilling the<br />

qualifications of membership who, having made petition<br />

to the proper Provincial Command or, in the case of<br />

independent branches, to Dominion Command, have been<br />

granted a charter by Dominion Command.<br />

Branch Service Officer<br />

A Branch Service Officer is an individual who has been<br />

appointed by his or her branch and who on a voluntary basis<br />

acts to assist Veterans and their dependants to meet their<br />

needs in the context of Veterans programs and benefits,<br />

engaging the assistance of the Command Service Officer(s)<br />

or appropriate Veterans Affairs Canada personnel to do so.<br />

Bursary<br />

A bursary is a grant provided to further the education of the<br />

children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren of persons<br />

defined in Subsection 101.d. of the General By-Laws.<br />

Call To Remembrance<br />

This program is based on a quiz show format with questions<br />

testing competing students’ Remembrance and history knowledge.<br />

Charities<br />

<strong>Poppy</strong> Trust Funds are not permitted to be donated to charities.<br />

See “Special Use Expenditures” for further clarification.<br />
