on Remembrance Day. Approval will be contingent on<br />

the occasion being celebrated.<br />

b. Community Use:<br />

i. Parks: Commemorative parks in the memory of<br />

Veterans where the <strong>Poppy</strong> would be positioned with<br />

respect, i.e. not inset or depicted in tiles on the ground<br />

or positioned in any way that would see the <strong>Poppy</strong><br />

trod upon; and<br />

ii. Memorials:<br />

1. Veterans’ monuments in memorial parks;<br />

2. headstone markers;<br />

3. museum displays erected to commemorate<br />

fallen Veterans.<br />

c. Buildings: Murals with a Remembrance theme;<br />

d. Street Blades/Signs:<br />

i. street blades/signs for streets in an area unique<br />

to Veterans or to commemorate specific memorial<br />

events. This could include street blades/signs<br />

named after war battles that included Canadian<br />

participation. In all cases for any street blade/<br />

sign, each proposed name must be provided, either<br />

collectively or individually, as blanket-use permission<br />

will not be granted;<br />

ii. street blades/signs recognizing Veterans in general,<br />

such as Veterans Way;<br />

iii. street blades/signs named in honour of individual<br />

Veterans. Proposals must include authenticated<br />

background information on each Veteran to be<br />

honoured, including wartime service and date of death;<br />

iv. Veterans named on street blades/signs must be easily<br />

identifiable as such by preceding the name with their<br />

rank or following it with their military unit, regiment<br />

or elemental affiliation (abbreviations acceptable).<br />

e. Banners:<br />

i. street banners to recognize commemorative events,<br />

such as the Year of the Veteran;<br />

ii. individual, hand-made banners produced by a branch<br />

to recognize commemorative events. Such banners<br />

will not result in any profit.<br />

f. Veterans’ Care Facilities: Printed material<br />

acknowledging the acquisition of equipment through<br />

donations from the <strong>Poppy</strong> Trust Fund. (In these cases,<br />

the material would normally contain reference to the<br />

donating branch and employ the Legion badge vice the<br />

<strong>Poppy</strong> symbol.)
