811. Particular care must be taken when a request is received<br />

from a commercial venture. Usage approval could be<br />

mistakenly interpreted as an endorsement of the product<br />

by The Royal Canadian Legion.<br />

812. The <strong>Poppy</strong> symbol should not be used as a part of, or in<br />

conjunction with any name; be it of any command, branch,<br />

individual, group or business. The Legion Logo is the only<br />

authorized use of the <strong>Poppy</strong> in conjunction with a name.<br />

Prior permission will be needed to use the Legion Logo.<br />

813. Similarly, the image of the <strong>Poppy</strong> in the foreground of<br />

barbed wire is NOT authorized for use.<br />

814. The <strong>Poppy</strong> symbol will not be used on or in conjunction<br />

with any item or in any application, which would in any<br />

way diminish its known value as a symbol of Remembrance.<br />

815. Situations where the use of the <strong>Poppy</strong> image would NOT<br />

be considered include:<br />

a. Community Use:<br />

i. Parks: Any area on the ground that could result<br />

in the <strong>Poppy</strong> being trod upon;<br />

ii. Memorials:<br />

1. designation of Veterans from non-Allied or<br />

non-Commonwealth countries;<br />

2. fixed or non-fixed memorials that do not clearly<br />

recognize Veterans; and<br />

3. a watermark on walls of recognition or any<br />

placement that could have text written across<br />

the <strong>Poppy</strong> image.<br />

iii. Buildings: On floor tiles, including use in<br />

Legion branches;<br />

iv. Medical Vehicles and Equipment: Medical<br />

vehicles or equipment, even if purchased through<br />

donations from the <strong>Poppy</strong> Trust Fund.<br />

b. Corporate Use:<br />

i. letterhead or printed material by corporations,<br />

companies or individuals;<br />

ii. project proposals by companies soliciting<br />

branch contracts;<br />

iii. incorporation into logos or signage of any company;<br />

and<br />

iv. Remembrance Day signage used by corporations or<br />

retail outlets.<br />

c. Artwork, Posters and Prints:<br />

i. posters or newspaper advertisements promoting a<br />

concert for a vocal group, choir or musical ensemble;<br />

ii. prints for sale or free distribution;
