Member Spotlight: Kevin Bond

This month’s
new member
spotlight is on
Kevin Bond. Kevin
is the proud owner of
a 2003 996 X50 also
known as a 911 Turbo
S. He said the car is a recession baby
and he is the third owner. Someone
was liquidating a collection. He saw it
on eBay and hit “Make Offer Now!”
Kevin said he’s wanted a Porsche
since he was about 12. He had the
poster of a mid 1980’s Gembella
Mirage 911 Turbo Cabriolet on
the wall in his room. He shared,
“At an early age, that car had me
answering life’s difficult questions
with, ‘Will that help or hurt’ my
quest for a kick-ass 911 Turbo?” He
added, “I mean, I love all Porsche’s
pretty much, but I need the power
that turbo puts out - I am a torque
junkie!” (Sounds like a few other
Maverick members I know!)
Kevin and his wife have been
married about 15 months now.
When asked about his family, he
responded, “It has eight paws and
four tires.” He has been in the DFW
area off and on for about 30 years.
He is just moving back again as
he was in the northeast for work.
Kevin said he
likes turning the
wrench too, so
his other hobbies
include anything
mechanical
- Porsche or
otherwise. He
just loves being
outside. He
added, “I run,
cycle, hike and
camp regularly. I plan to drive Rocky
Mountain National Park later this
summer and stop by some “Cars and
Coffee” events in California, too.”
