ART SHOW 111 - MORE FEATURED ARTISTS<br />

In last weeks article it was promised that more<br />

artists would be featured who are exhibit<strong>in</strong>g at the<br />

ART SHOW 111 at at Desert Patio <strong>in</strong> Rancho Mirage.<br />

The artists featured <strong>in</strong> this show are multi<br />

talented and creative <strong>in</strong> a variety of arts and art<br />

related areas. One artist/designer <strong>in</strong> particular,<br />

Bruce Tunis, is especially eclectic <strong>in</strong> his creative<br />

endeavors. His biography <strong>in</strong>cludes his tra<strong>in</strong><strong>in</strong>g<br />

<strong>in</strong> art where he attended the former Chou<strong>in</strong>ard<br />

Art Institute <strong>in</strong> Los Angeles which is now titled<br />

the California Institute of Arts. Bruce has been<br />

<strong>in</strong>fluenced by the chang<strong>in</strong>g art forms of the past<br />

and current century. Art Nouveau and Art <strong>Dec</strong>o<br />

were particularly <strong>in</strong>fluential <strong>in</strong> develop<strong>in</strong>g his<br />

personal style.<br />

After complet<strong>in</strong>g his tra<strong>in</strong><strong>in</strong>g at Chou<strong>in</strong>ard he<br />

worked <strong>in</strong> Los Angeles creat<strong>in</strong>g pa<strong>in</strong>t<strong>in</strong>gs on canvas<br />

as well as <strong>in</strong>terior murals. Before leav<strong>in</strong>g L.A.<br />

he began design<strong>in</strong>g cus<strong>to</strong>m dog houses. Now that<br />

he is <strong>in</strong> the desert he cont<strong>in</strong>ues his pa<strong>in</strong>t<strong>in</strong>g and<br />

has added design<strong>in</strong>g and produc<strong>in</strong>g fold<strong>in</strong>g room<br />

screens and free stand<strong>in</strong>g box lamps. His pa<strong>in</strong>t<strong>in</strong>g<br />

has evolved <strong>in</strong><strong>to</strong> a more contemporary look of<br />

which he has examples at the show. One pa<strong>in</strong>t<strong>in</strong>g<br />

shown <strong>in</strong> this article is titled,”Last Days of the<br />

Sal<strong>to</strong>n Sea” display<strong>in</strong>g his artistic commentary on<br />

a local issue.<br />

His work can be seen <strong>in</strong> a variety of locations with<br />

murals at Disney El Capitan and Crest Theaters,<br />

at hotels <strong>in</strong> Beverly Hills, Hollywood and Las<br />

Vegas all the way <strong>to</strong> Alaska. He has been featured<br />

<strong>in</strong> Los Angels Times, Designers West, L.A. Style<br />

Magaz<strong>in</strong>e and the Desert Sun.<br />

His work is available <strong>to</strong> be viewed and purchased<br />

along with the other artist at the 111 Art Show<br />

throughout <strong>Dec</strong>ember, at Desert Patio 70-020<br />

Highway 111 <strong>in</strong> Rancho Mirage. This show is a<br />

pleasured <strong>to</strong> view and appreciate a wide variety of<br />

art <strong>from</strong> local gay artists.<br />
