REBEL CELEBRATES ONE YEAR OF ART AT THE BACKSTREET ART DISTRICT<br />

WITH A RETROSPECTIVE OF <strong>THIS</strong> YEAR’S ARTISTS<br />

<strong>Palm</strong> <strong>Spr<strong>in</strong>gs</strong>, CA. – <strong>Nov</strong>ember 29, <strong>2016</strong> – At the <strong>Dec</strong>ember 7 th Art Walk, REBEL art space<br />

will celebrate one year of Art with a retrospective of all the great artists they have presented<br />

this past year. Highlight<strong>in</strong>g the anniversary show will be the very timely new works of<br />

southern-born <strong>in</strong>ternational artist Lawrence Wells. Wells’ new works reflect a chill<strong>in</strong>g political<br />

commentary of the isolation of the aris<strong>to</strong>cracy whose vision of the world comes through<br />

computer screens and on smart phones.<br />

Additionally, REBEL will offer special pric<strong>in</strong>g of all the current work <strong>in</strong> s<strong>to</strong>ck. “In these times of<br />

uncerta<strong>in</strong>ty and political unrest, we need <strong>to</strong> remember that art is a language of dissent that is<br />

both powerful and transformative. “We want <strong>to</strong> make sure that it is affordable <strong>to</strong> all as well,”<br />

states REBEL gallerist, Melanie Brenner.<br />

About REBEL art space: REBEL art space has been open one year <strong>in</strong> <strong>Palm</strong> <strong>Spr<strong>in</strong>gs</strong> south<br />

end Backstreet Arts District. REBEL is the collaboration of three longtime friends who share<br />

a love of art along with their Southern Heritage. Kerry Hamil<strong>to</strong>n, Lucius Lamar and Melanie<br />

Brenner have long discussed their vision of a space for new and new <strong>to</strong> the area artists <strong>to</strong> be<br />

exposed <strong>to</strong> the burgeon<strong>in</strong>g art world of the Coachella Valley. The mid-century Backstreet Arts<br />

District is the perfect place <strong>to</strong> house their gallery.<br />

The Gallery is located at 2604 South Cherokee Way <strong>in</strong> <strong>Palm</strong> <strong>Spr<strong>in</strong>gs</strong> with plenty of free<br />

park<strong>in</strong>g and beautiful mounta<strong>in</strong> views. Hours are Wednesday thru Sunday <strong>from</strong> 12 <strong>to</strong> 4 and by<br />
