SPICEJET POSTED THE HIGHEST ANNUAL PROFIT IN ITS HISTORY SpiceJet reported a net profit of `73 crore for Q4 FY16, after taking a onetime expense of `173 crore towards estabilising and improving the reliability of its fleet. Despite this one-time expenditure, the net profit is an improvement of 225% over the same quarter last year. SPICEJET TOPPED ON-TIME PERFORMANCE AND PASSENGER LOAD FACTOR SpiceJet outpaced all its peers for critical operational parameters of OTP (On-Time Performance) and PLF (Passenger Load Factor) this year. It registered a PLF of 91.9%, in October 2016, clocking over 90% PLF for 18 months in a row. SpiceJet also topped the OTP chart for the month at 86.1%. SPICEJET LAUNCHED SPICECLUB AND FLY FOR SURE Continuing with its pioneering ways, SpiceJet launched a rewards card that pays back the member many times over. The prepaid card, SpiceClub, allows passengers to make cashless transactions within the SpiceJet ecosystem. They can purchase meals, merchandise and add-on services. With every recharge, they get additional credits, which convert to currency on the card. The passenger enrols for a one-year SpiceClub membership by paying only `599 upfront; the cardholder can then enjoy a host of exclusive benefits worth up to `3,000. SpiceJet also launched ‘Fly For Sure’ for greater ease in case of flight disruptions. It entitles a passenger a guarantee of flying in the next 24 hours in case of a flight delay beyond 90 minutes, missing a flight (no-show) not exceeding 30 minutes from airport check-in closure of the original flight or a flight cancellation by the airline. Passengers can purchase this add-on product while booking the flight. SPICEJET INTRODUCED LOUNGE SERVICES SpiceJet passengers can now enjoy the services of lounges in the airports of Delhi, Hyderabad, Bengaluru and Kochi and at premium lounges such as Club One Class Lounge, International Airport, Jaipur; Zesto Lounge, SHA, Lal Bahadur Shastri International Airport, Varanasi; and Prive Lounge at Lokpriya Gopinath Bordoloi International Airport, Guwahati, at a nominal cost. The service allows passengers to unwind and relax in the comfort of SpiceJet’s hospitality. SPICEJET BECAME THE FIRST AIRLINE TO LAUNCH CHECK-IN USING NEAR FIELD COMMUNICATION AND BEACON TECHNOLOGIES SpiceJet launched smart check-in facility using BLE (Bluetooth Low Energy) and NFC (Near Field Communication) technologies under the aegis of Ashok Gajapathi Raju, Honourable Union Minister for Civil Aviation, in GMR Hyderabad International Airport. NFC enables passengers to receive their boarding pass on their smartphone when they check-in through an NFC-enabled smartphone with SpiceJet’s app. Passengers can simply open the app and touch the mobile device on the NFC check-in poster at the airport to retrieve their mobile boarding pass. SPICEJET INTRODUCED SPECIAL HAJ FLIGHTS SpiceJet carried more than 8,000 pilgrims on special flights for the Haj, in Mecca from Gaya and Indore. The airline deployed two Airbus 320 to ferry pilgrims to Jeddah and Medina between August 4 and September 3, 2016. DECEMBER 2016 ||||| 77
