MEDIA OPERATIONS<br />

In every tournament venue there were<br />

Media Managers and their deputies, who<br />

supervised all media operations in each<br />

Host City, open trainings for journalists<br />

and ran press conferences as chair<br />

persons.<br />

Another person delegated to serve the media was<br />

the EHF Media Manager, who was responsible for<br />

all aspects of service provided to journalists on behalf<br />

of the EHF.<br />

Moreover, the media in each Host City were served<br />

by a total of ca. 60 volunteers in various areas who<br />

were responsible for all kinds of help and the provision<br />

of information to journalists and photo journalists.<br />

An additional Video Crew team was responsible<br />

for the preparation of video materials and interviews<br />

in the mix zone. In hotels where journalists were accommodated,<br />

there were infodesks at which volunteers<br />

gave all kinds of organisational information<br />

to journalists.<br />

ORGANISATION OF MEDIA ZONES<br />

Work on the organisation of all media zones and<br />

equipment for the media started on 2 January in<br />

Kraków, on 9 January in Katowice, on 10 January in<br />

Gdańsk and on 11 January in Wrocław. The following<br />

media zones were organised in each Host City:<br />

Media Center – they were located in match venues<br />

and were open from the day preceding the start of<br />

EHF EURO 2016 till the last day of the Championship<br />

in the given Host City from 10:00 am till 0:00 am<br />

on match days (till 10:00 am on rest days). Media<br />

Centers offered work spaces for journalists, access<br />

to the Internet, computers and printers at the media's<br />

disposal and included:<br />

• Working Area – work spaces for journalists (500<br />

in Kraków, 300 in Wrocław, 150 in Katowice and<br />

150 in Gdańsk)<br />

• Press Conference Room – the conference area<br />

where press conferences were held after each<br />

match with the participation of coaches and<br />

players of both teams<br />

• Catering zone<br />

• Relax zone<br />

Mix Zone – the zone where journalists leaving the<br />

media stand met players leaving the court, including<br />

the TV zone, the radio zone and the zone for Internet<br />

and press journalists<br />

Flash Zone – areas of first contact with players and<br />

quick short interviews (accessible only to journalists<br />

of televisions that had bought the rights to access<br />

this zone)<br />

Press Stand – separate stands for journalists – 450<br />

seats in Kraków, 150 seats in Katowice, 200 seats in<br />

Gdańsk and 300 seats in Wrocław – each press seat<br />

was provided with power connection and Internet<br />

access. Fully equipped commentators' seats for TV<br />

and radio stations were also available.<br />

TV Compound Zone – designated zones outside venues<br />

where production trucks of all stations that had<br />

bought broadcasting rights stood during the entire<br />

Tournament and were secured on a round-the-clock<br />

basis<br />

TV Studios – TV studios were built in venues for TV<br />

stations that had bought broadcasting rights. 3 TV<br />

studios were built in Kraków, 2 studios were built in<br />

Wrocław, and 1 studio was built in Gdańsk.<br />

CONFERENCES AND PRESS BRIEFINGS<br />

A number of open conferences for all accredited<br />

journalists and briefings for journalists from individual<br />

states was organised:<br />

• Conferences inaugurating the Tournament in all<br />

4 Host Cities<br />

• Conferences with coaches and players of both<br />

teams after each match<br />

• Conference after the preliminary round<br />

• Conference after the main round<br />

• Summary conference at the end of the<br />

Tournament on final Sunday<br />

• Press briefings – a number of meetings fixed by<br />

specific teams (in teams’ hotels) with journalists<br />

from individual states.<br />
