Ryan Bouchard is a Chicago based interdisciplinary artist
whose focus is primarily in painting and photography. His
work explores themes of intimacy and voyeurism, as well as
internet sensationalism and devotion.
Surreal Self-reflection
It is difficult to accurately describe my time (or time at all) at
Arteles, the same way it’s difficult to fully describe a dream.
My experience was a recalibration providing a reminder that
sometimes you just need to walk in the woods. The silence,
the landscape, the sauna, all served as great inspiration for
my first attempts at exploring surrealism in painting. The
small series of paintings I produced were made in reaction to
the Finnish landscape.
