About
Carolina Colichio (Ribeirão Preto, 1977) lives and works in
São Paulo. She holds a BA in Social Communication from
Mackenzie University (1999). Over the last 5 years, she has
attended several art courses at institutions and also artist’s
studios.
Her work moves between painting, sculpture and installation,
exploring what is real and what is not. The artist experimentally
researches different materials and possibilities from the
objects that she produces herself and also collected.
The conceptual connections between the body and nature
also is an interest for the artist.
Time and life
When I first got to Arteles, I was so inspired by the landscape
with all different colors, textures and shapes that my first
impulse was to collect elements from nature during my
everyday walking to the lake. This was a way to settle down
and start recognizing where my perception was guiding
me, so my work began with observation drawings and a
watercolor book.
After a while, silence, walks, meditation and longer daylight
made me look even more deeply into the woods and into
myself. I have started questioned boundaries between time
and life. From that, collected earth, clay, mushrooms and
coal turned into a body of work with different materials.
