Canterbury and Paris<br />

It is possible to study this<br />

programme entirely in Canterbury<br />

or split between our Canterbury<br />

campus and our Paris School of<br />

Arts and Culture.<br />

The programme focuses on the<br />

period c1500-2000. You develop<br />

your capacity to think critically<br />

about past events, approach<br />

primary and secondary sources<br />

from a variety of perspectives and<br />

strive to understand the complex<br />

issues surrounding context<br />

and significance. In addition,<br />

you engage with the wider<br />

historiography and discourse<br />

associated with your studies,<br />

understanding the structure and<br />

nature of cultural, political and<br />

social forces in the modern period.<br />

If you are studying on the split-site<br />

programme, you spend your first<br />

term in Canterbury before<br />

relocating to our Paris School for<br />

the spring term, studying in the<br />

heart of historic Montparnasse.<br />

All teaching is provided in English,<br />

by University of Kent academics.<br />

This MA teaches the collective<br />

history of science, medicine,<br />

environment and technology.<br />

It offers modules that combine<br />

imperial, ethical and military<br />

history with general areas of<br />

conceptualised disease, reacted<br />

This new MA programme explores<br />

the military, cultural, political and<br />

social history of the First World<br />

War, introducing you to advanced<br />

concepts of historiography and<br />

cultural theory. The programme<br />

is interdisciplinary in nature, and<br />
