MEDWAY
Our Medway campus is
in a great location, close
to the River Medway
with part of the campus
based at The Historic
Dockyard, Chatham, less
than 20 minutes away
from London by highspeed
train. It houses
award-winning buildings
and brand new facilities,
and has an exciting
social life with a strong
sense of community.
Campus life
Medway students enjoy a modern
study environment with state-ofthe-art
facilities. The flagship
Medway Building has won several
awards for design excellence. The
Gillingham Building houses fully
equipped teaching rooms and
academic schools, and the
Rochester Building includes the
No1 Bistro, plus large rooms for
seminars and executive meetings.
We have also invested in a
multimillion-pound refurbishment
of key academic facilities at
The Historic Dockyard, Chatham,
as part of the expansion of the
School of Arts.
The Sail and Colour Loft reopened
in 2015 and now houses seminar
rooms, a computer suite, student
social spaces and other facilities
for Kent Business School students.
The Royal Dockyard Church has
been refurbished as a lecture
theatre and the Galvanising Shop
is the University’s main reception
point at The Historic Dockyard,
Chatham with a café, bar and
performance space.
New Student Union Hub
A new Student Union Hub at
Medway will open in September
2016. This will bring to life a listed
building, formerly used as a
swimming pool and bowling alley.
The new Student Union hub will
have a modern bar, a flexible
entertainment and social space
with a great range of food
available. The hub will also be
home to an Advice Centre plus
offices for GK Unions and
bookable activity space for
students. This will transform the
student experience at Medway,
by providing much needed
flexible social and activity space.
