months before their spirit is willing or able<br />
to come back to us. I told her that was fine,<br />
but wanted to try any way. Barb asked me<br />
to think of Pup Pup. Don't say anything,<br />
don't provide any information, just think<br />
of her and how I could ask her to come.<br />
Since Pup Pup always had an incredible<br />
recall, I sat there thinking, "Pup Pup, come.<br />
Come on Pup", in as cheerful a "voice" as<br />
I could muster. Barb informed me that Pup<br />
was there.<br />
Barb stated that Pup was with a woman<br />
who was one step higher than my mom.<br />
She asked if that made sense. I told her yes.<br />
She said Pup was with my grandmother. I<br />
laughed and told Barb that was surprising<br />
because my grandmother never did<br />
particularly like dogs. Barb said that things<br />
often change after you pass into spirit. Barb<br />
also informed me that Pup Pup was with a<br />
very big man who was one step over my<br />
mother. Grandpa had always looked like a<br />
very huge man to us when we were growing<br />
up, so it didn't surprise me that Pup thought<br />
he was big. The fact that Pup Pup was with<br />
my grandfather was no surprise to me,<br />
either, since Grandpa loved animals. Barb<br />
stated that Pup liked being with this man<br />
because she could jump really high when<br />
she was with him. That was something Pup<br />
Pup always loved to do, run and jump!<br />
Barb sat quietly for a few seconds,<br />
then got a quizzical look on her face. She<br />
said Pup Pup's passing had been "quirky,<br />
totally unexpected." I told her yes. She said<br />
it had something to do with her head. Pup<br />
had been feeling dizzy for two or three<br />
days before she died and her vision would<br />
become blurry, but she didn't know how to<br />
tell anyone what was going on. She said it<br />
had something to do with the blood going<br />
to her head. Barb stated she was getting the<br />
feeling that it was a stroke or a seizure.<br />
Pup Pup told Barb that she always felt<br />
loved. She never doubted that Wendy and I<br />
loved her, and wanted to be sure we knew<br />
that. That one statement gave me a sense of<br />
peace that I hadn't felt since Pup Pup left<br />
us. I was so worried that she didn't now<br />
how much we loved her, but after hearing<br />
that my concerns vanished. Pup Pup also<br />
stated that Wendy was a wonderful doggy<br />
mom!<br />
Barb stated that Pup Pup had been<br />
cremated. Pup Pup had show Barb a<br />
picture of a box, which to Barb means a<br />
cremation, not a burial. Barb asked if this<br />
made sense?Yes. Shesaid, "OK, thatmakes<br />

sense. She knows she's sitting on a shelfin<br />
someone's house, but can't understand why<br />
she's being kept there. It's not really her.<br />
She's still running around the house and<br />
yard with the other dogs. But if it makes<br />
this person happy to have her there, that's<br />
fine."<br />
Barb informed me that Pup Pup was<br />
aware that most people thought she wasn't<br />
very bright. I really laughed at that one. We<br />
used to joke that she had two active brain<br />
cells: one to eat, the other to pee and poop.<br />
When they banged together, she had fits<br />
of brilliance. When they weren't working<br />
as a team, she was dense! Barb stated that<br />
Pup Pup wanted us to know she was far<br />
from being dumb. She just chose what she<br />
wanted to do and ignored the rest.<br />
Barb stated she was sensing a lot of<br />
insecurities in Pup Pup from a past life.<br />
She said she never felt like she was quite<br />
good enough. She always had to try harder<br />
and do better. She stated she was sensing<br />
some neglect in Pup Pup's former life. This<br />
answered a lot ofquestions that Wendy and<br />
I had about someofthe things Pup Pup used<br />
to do. She always tried so hard to please.<br />
At times you could see the frustration on<br />
her face if she didn't understand what you<br />
wanted her to do. Pup Pup stated she never<br />
felt neglected or unloved in this life. It was<br />
a lingering feeling from a former life.<br />
Pup Pup told us that she would be<br />
returning to us in about a year. She said she<br />
would be coming back as a totally different<br />
dog. One nobody wanted. She would find<br />
her way back to Wendy or I and we would<br />
know it was her when we looked in that<br />
dog's eyes.<br />
After the session with Barb, I came<br />
home and called Wendy. My first words<br />
were, "I talked with Pup Pup today!"<br />
Wendy's only statement was, "Okay".<br />
Wendy was pretty quiet during the first<br />
part of the conversation. I think she was<br />
trying to figure out if her friend had totally<br />
lost her mind. When I told Wendy about<br />
Pup having either a stroke or a seizure, she<br />
stated that made sense since the vet had<br />
told her Pup had bitten through her tongue.<br />
Wendy laughed at the silly things Pup said.<br />
She also confirmed that Pup's ashes were<br />
on her dresser in her bedroom. She said<br />
there were times when the dogs were out<br />
and they would start barking at something<br />
she couldn't see. Maybe that was during<br />
the time when Pup Pup came back to run<br />
through the yard with her friends.<br />
Since this session with Barb, I feel<br />
as though I have a new understanding of<br />
Pup Pup and how she perceived her life.<br />
Considering her rough start in life due<br />
to heart problems, I always wondered if<br />
she was having a good quality of life. She<br />
always seemed happy and enjoyed every<br />
minute of every day to the fullest, but the<br />
doubts were still there. Were we doing<br />
enough for her? Was she as happy as she<br />
seemed? Now I know she was happy and<br />
content with her life. She knew she was<br />
loved and gave it back to us 100 times<br />
over. I hope Pup Pup does find her way<br />
back to us and I do find that dog that no<br />
one wants in the future. What a wonderful<br />
experience it would be to be reunited with<br />
an old friend.<br />
