ASSESSMENT AND EVALUATION:<br />
In their Thinking Journals, students will reflect on whether or not <strong>Residential</strong> Schools did what<br />
they intended to do and how it compares to their own school life?<br />
TEACHER NOTES:<br />
Teachers may wish to use the TC2 Tools for Thought lesson: Explore daily life lesson with<br />
materials specific to <strong>Residential</strong> Schools.<br />
TC2 also has a supporting student video about what historical perspective thinking is and<br />
Investigating Realistic Stories - Explore Daily Life (drawing conclusions about the physical<br />
living conditions and qualities of life of an individual or group).<br />
ADDITIONAL ACTIVITIES:<br />
PERSUASIVE LETTER: students could write a letter to the Indian Agent on behalf of their child<br />
who is attending a residential school, or from the point of view of a student enrolled at a<br />
residential school.<br />
DEBATE: students could debate whether or not <strong>Residential</strong> Schools should remain open or<br />
should be closed, having students debate using historical thinking.<br />
