THOMAS CSAPO - FROM EUROPE TO PALM SPRINGS
The art of Thomas Csapo is being featured
at the Corina Cravcenco Gallery at the
Backstreet Art District on Cherokee Way in
Palm Springs.
Mr. Csapo was an entertainer at an early
age in the cities of Miskoic and Budapest,
Hungary. He worked with art ensembles in
various theaters. His experiences took him
through various art venues from folklore to
classical and modern.
This exhibit began on May 3 at the Cravcenco
Gallery at the Backstreet Art District
on Highway 111 behind the Mercedes dealer.
He is shown with one of his personally
favorite works at the gallery in the attached
photograph.

He went on to study visual art working with
various art mediums exploring their potentialities
for creating original art. He also
was a teacher of visual arts at the Lancaster
Academy teaching a varied art curriculum
including printmaking, painting and art
appreciation.
Immigrating to the United States in 1973 as
a student of commercial art at the Atlantic
Union College in Massachusetts, his commercial
art career had begun in Switzerland
in 1970 as an advertising designer for the
Tobler Chocolate Company where his work
was reflected in the logos and advertising
programs for Tobler. He stated that “Art for
me... is painting life as it should be or as it
should not be it is like the experience of a
curious reporter searching for meaning and
truth.”
The show at the Corina Cravcenco Gallery
is a retrospective of what he says is 40
years of his creating art. The works include
paintings and prints and mixed media and
techniques that he has explored during hs
career. He states, “visual art is healing. Art
is the opposite of the stressful life because
it brings us timeless moments so our mind
can rest”.
