Brotherhood Session: Accountability and Brotherhood
Day Two: 10:30-11:45
Objectives
• Understand how accountability can help us achieve our why
• Develop strategies to increase accountability and commitment to the organization
5/5 Check In
Facilitators should take a few moments to check in with the group before moving forward with
the curriculum.
15/20 Accountability
We talk about accountability a great deal within fraternity, and it is important to the idea of
Starting With Why, as we need to be able to hold our members and the organization as a
whole accountable for proving its purpose.
• When we say accountability – what comes to mind?
• What does accountability mean to you?
• Why is it important to fraternity?
• When we are talking about accountability, what are people in Phi Mu Delta
accountable to? Why?
We have a brief story we want to share with you about four people. It is about Everybody,
Somebody, Anybody, and Nobody
There was an important job to be done and Everybody was asked to do it. Everybody was sure
Somebody would do it. Anybody could have done it, but Nobody did it. Somebody got angry
about that because it was Everybody’s job. Everybody thought Anybody could do it, but Nobody
realized that Everybody wouldn’t do it. In ended that Everybody blamed Somebody when
Nobody did what Anybody could have done.
40/60 Case Study
WB Pages
18-21
15/75 Reflection
• What is the moral of this story?
• How have we seen this exact scenario play out in your chapters?
• What can we do to avoid this problem?
There are three different scenarios of Phi Mu Delta chapters this academic year. Within your
teams, you will read your case study and present it to the group. Give them 20 minutes to
work and 3 minutes each to present.
• What are your reactions to these cases?
• How do these case studies relate to accountability?
• How could accountability have prevented these issues? Why would brothers not hold
their brothers accountable?
• What is preventing us from holding our brothers accountable?
The Ritual says “It’s hard to be a good fraternity man.” Through these challenges, the fraternity
can help make you into a better man.
