Brotherhood Session: Night Walk
Day Two: 9:00-11:00 pm
Objectives
• Provide opportunity for thoughtful reflection and commitment to the Ritual and Founders Creed of
Phi Mu Delta
10/10 Preparation
50/60 Solo Walk
60/120 Creed Talk
Invite the group to gather in a tight clump in order to explain the rest of the evening. We
will be going on a night walk that will involve some time walking as a large group, but it is
the solo portion of the night walk that will be the most impactful. From now until they
reach their campfire, there should be no talking. The walk is done in silence.
Once we reach our solo start, each of them will follow the path and wait for the rest of
the group to complete their walk.
Yes, this will take some time, but they should use the time to think about the Sapphire
experience, their time as a member of Phi Mu Delta, and their goals for the future.
Once your group reaches its designated start, release participants one by one for their
solo walk. Whisper to them to use this time for deeper thought.
Session Coordinators and Executive Director gather the entire group in a circle around the
fire. Participants can sit and get comfortable in their surroundings.
• What did you experience on the walk?
• How did the walk impact you personally?
• How did you approach the solo portion of the walk?
• What did you think about related to Phi Mu Delta? Your time at Sapphire?
• What did you think about related to the Ritual and Creed of Phi Mu Delta
• What does it mean to be a member of Phi Mu Delta? How do we prove it?
Presenters and Executive Director should continue with a Creed Talk: conversation about
the Founders Creed, What it means to the members, and how we can live it within our
chapters, communities, and lives.
