to prove that the animal has a mind, and that in this<br />

respect the only difference between man and the animal<br />

is one of degree, and if the mind and soul are identical<br />

why should not the "mind or soul" of the animal be as<br />

immortal as the "mind or soul" of the man? This<br />

leaves us no alternative than to base our claims to imimmortality,<br />

solely on the superiority of our mind over<br />
