What do you love most<br />
about travelling and<br />
what has globetrotting<br />
taught you?<br />
Anonymity. I enjoy travelling through<br />
foreign airports and getting on a flight to<br />
somewhere where no one knows or<br />
recognises me. It’s very peaceful and far<br />
different to my life back home. Travelling<br />
has taught me to be resourceful and to<br />
have my wits about me since you don’t<br />
really know what can happen. It has also<br />
taught me to see the world through<br />
different lenses and of course that<br />
promotes empathy. I am a student of<br />
history and political ideas. Invariably, I take<br />
a keen interest in the political history of<br />
countries that I visit.<br />
few days. I need a book and my iPad<br />
loaded with the latest editions of my<br />
favourite magazines. Travelling is a lot of<br />
waiting and sitting around. It’s important<br />
to have something to read.<br />
What services and<br />
facilities do you find<br />
most appealing at KLIA<br />
and klia2?<br />
I like the selection of shops at KLIA and<br />
restaurants at klia2. I don’t really get to<br />
spend much time in either because I am<br />
always rushing to the departure gate but<br />
they look nice!<br />
What is your preboarding<br />
habit?<br />
Which country do you<br />
really want to visit in<br />
the near future?<br />
South island of New Zealand for a natureadventure<br />
holiday, especially for my sons.<br />
Argentina again for the food, football and<br />
horses. A road trip through the Karakoram<br />
highway and onwards through Central<br />
Asia and ‘Stan’ countries because so much<br />
of what we know about civilisational history<br />
centres around this area. A cycling trip<br />
through the Basque region and to see the<br />
northern lights. Wow, what a list!<br />
What's in your travel<br />
kit (travel essentials)?<br />
I always have my Dopp kit (a toiletry bag<br />
brand) and chargers ready in my travel<br />
bag. That’s because I am constantly on<br />
the move and rushing out the door every<br />
Make sure I have my credit cards with me!<br />
I say a prayer as I am about to step into<br />
the plane and while I am not superstitious<br />
at all, I tap the outside of the fuselage<br />
before I go in. I don’t know why I do that.<br />
Once I am in I send texts to loved ones,<br />
get out of my work clothes and change<br />
into a t-shirt and sweatpants, get my book<br />
out and completely disconnect for the<br />
duration of the flight.<br />
The 29th SEA Games is<br />
fast approaching.<br />
What's your take on<br />
Malaysia's participation<br />
in the games?<br />
It’s going to be a great show. I promise<br />
to deliver the best organised games in<br />
history and also for<br />
~<br />
Malaysia to emerge<br />
as overall champions.<br />
