We are planning to have speakers at our meetings and the Committee would be
very pleased to see more of you attending to give us ideas on which speakers
you would like to hear. We meet on the second Tuesday of each month and look
forward to a good attendance.
Our offi ce bearers are Mrs. N. McBarron, Convener, Mr A. Smith, Vice Convener,
It was brought to my attention that several residents in Bridge
of Weir who are in receipt of benefi ts were having to travel
all the way to Port Glasgow for appointments despite the
fact that there are two job centres which are closer. I am
happy that after raising awareness of this issue, residents
have now been made aware that they are able to move their
appointments to the Johnstone jobcentre.
The following ward issues are currently receiving attention.
Deafhillock Roundabout - The works that will be taking place
between August and December are causing a lot of concern
but I have been assured that the council will be pursuing
with the developer, ways in which the traffi c signals could be
speeded up, to avoid the long waits many experienced during the last lot of works.
To confi rm, there are no issues with the capacity to accommodate vehicles, these
works are required to be carried out by Scottish Water so they are essential.
Please contact me if you would like any further information on this.
The Livery Walk car park – wardens will be patrolling the area with mobile CCTV
cameras to ascertain a better knowledge of the issues faced by residents,
including damage to cars and overcrowding. They will also be chatting to residents
so if you see them and you have had issues with the car park, please, speak with
them and advise them of your concerns. After this has been completed, there will
be a better idea of what further action can be taken.
The parts required for the zip-line in Houston Road Park have now been received
and this should be fi xed within the next three weeks.
An assessment is being carried out on the overgrown foliage on pavements
between Brookfi eld and Bridge of Weir and any safety concerns will be
addressed.
Having received several complaints regarding litter and the lack of litter bins
throughout Dargavel, a request for bins in various locations has been issued.
An inspection is still due to be carried out on the wire fence running along
Greenock Road in Bishopton.
The white lines have been replaced on Main Road in Langbank in an effort to stop
people obstructing residential driveways. There are also further concerns of cars
parking on both sides of the road, causing an obstruction and blocking access for
large vehicles. This issue has been raised in an effort to see what further action
can be taken.
