Duchal Nursery School
What a wonderful start to the new term we have had. It has been lovely
to welcome all the new children to our Duchal family and to see our older
children embracing their new role mentoring them!
The children are already embracing our topic of the jungle, this will
incorporate learning about numbers, colours, animals, other cultures and
promises to be lots of fun.
We are delighted to be able to continue our successful longer Duchal day,
we are open 8.15am until 3.30pm every day for those that require extra
day care. Feedback from our current parents is really positive and more
importantly the children are so pleased to be able to spend more time at
Duchal and sharing more experiences with their friends!
We wish all our summer leavers the best of luck as they move on to various
local primary schools including Langbank, Bridge of Weir and Kilmacolm,
the joy of being an independent nursery means our children have the option
to move on to a variety of schools.
If you would like to come and visit the Nursery to find out more about what
we can offer please call us on: 01505 874358 or email info@duchal.com.
Port Glasgow High School
“Disco Inferno” – Another triumphant school show
The quality of the school shows
produced at PGHS are always
outstanding. This year, pupils and
staff excelled themselves with a run
of amazing nights of “Disco Inferno”.
Top class performances by talented
pupils had the audiences on their
feet with songs from the 70s every
night of the sell-out performances.
Congratulations to everyone
involved.
British Heart Foundation
Fundraising (by Bethany Brotherton S6)
Port Glasgow High School recently
had a British Heart Foundation
fundraising day, during this time;
pupils were asked to come to school
dressed in red and pay £1 which
would be donated to the charity.
After collecting the donations, we
had raised £300 for the British
Heart Foundation. The reason I wanted to fundraise for the British Heart
Foundation of all charities is because when I was thirteen, I lost my dad
to Dilated Cardiomyopathy when it became
terminal in 2014 and I lost my mum to the
same illness in August 2016. The charity
has a special place in my heart and if there
is a way I can contribute to them, to help
people who are in the same position my
mum and dad were in, I will try my best to
achieve that.
Record Exam Results at Port Glasgow High School
Pupils and staff were delighted to note record results were achieved at
Port Glasgow High School this year. The highest number of Higher Grade
passes, a 10% increase in National 5 awards and more Advanced Higher
qualifications made for a very positive return to school for pupils and staff.
Head Teacher, Mr Clark praised the efforts of everyone involved at the fi rst
assemblies of the new session. He said: “The strength of Port Glasgow
High School is the great team work and very positive relationships between
pupils and staff. Teachers and pupils worked incredibly hard last session
and it is pleasing this has been recognised in our record results. Our aim is to
ensure improvement
year on year.”
New School Blazer
A focus group of
Senior Pupils, parents
and staff were recently
involved in designing
a new blazer for the
school. This is now
expected uniform for
our senior pupils and
is optional for S1-4.
The pupils are looking incredibly smart in their new uniforms.
