As I sit watching what<br />
will hopefully be the last<br />
snow of winter, I cannot help<br />
but realize that when this<br />
is published it will be late<br />
spring and early summer.<br />
As much as we would like<br />
to wish time away, we must<br />
live in the present but always<br />
plan for the future.<br />
Over the past couple<br />
of years, the <strong>Maryland</strong><br />

Maritime Institute in Linthicum, <strong>Maryland</strong>. The theme<br />
this year is Every Nurse a Leader. How are you living the<br />
core values and developing or enhancing your roles as a<br />
leader? As you plan for your professional future think<br />
about those activities that do or will reflect your nursing<br />
leadership.<br />
Make your leadership a formal role and consider<br />
running for office in the MNA or serving on committees.<br />
There are opportunities on both the district and state<br />
levels. Part of the strategic plan is planning for succession<br />
of leaders at every level of the organization. How will<br />
you leave your leadership mark? I often hear nurses say
