FAMILY HAS ALWAYS BEEN FRONT
AND CENTER IN MICHAEL GOFF’S
LIFE. Growing up as a bigger kid in
Tennessee, Michael’s older brother,
Chris, taught him how to eat right
and get in shape. He went on to
study nutrition and fitness because
of his brother’s influence, and in
2008, Michael joined the staff at
his brother’s gym. But due to a
tough economy, Michael had to get
part-time work to make ends meet.
“I didn’t think anything of it because
I was always taught to work hard.
I did that for two years until my
friend passed away,” he explains.
“I started looking at my life and
thinking, ‘There has to be a better
way than working 80 hours a week.’”
In 2010 his brother introduced him
to another facet of nutrition and
wellness: AdvoCare. But being
the stubborn younger brother,
Michael shut him down. After a
few more tries, he agreed to go
to a Mixer (a small group meeting)
to support his brother. He began
using AdvoCare products, and
continued his active fitness and
diet regimen, and loved his weightloss
results. Ten months later, he
decided to focus on AdvoCare’s
business opportunity after
attending National Success School.
“I absolutely love meeting people
face-to-face,” he explains. “I think
communication is a lost art in
today’s social media age, so 1-on-1
meetings are my favorite way to meet
people and introduce AdvoCare.”
A year-and-a-half later, after
countless 1-on-1’s and three-way
conference calls, he made the choice
to walk away from his job at the gym
and focus on AdvoCare full time.
“I learned more about myself and
more about people during that
first year with AdvoCare than I
did in school,” says Michael. “You
have to learn how to deal with
rejection and how to talk to people.
Before AdvoCare, I had a wall up. I
thought I was perfect at everything.”
Michael knew he made the right
decision when he was able to surprise
his dad and the rest of his family in
Tennessee and stay for a month.
“That was the first time in my life I
saw him cry,” Michael says. Today,
Michael and his brother spend their
days helping others and enriching
their communities with AdvoCare.
