SOMETIMES YOU HAVE TO TRUST
YOUR INSTINCTS AND TAKE A
CHANCE ON SOMETHING NEW.
When Chelsey Okonek decided to
pursue a business venture with AdvoCare
while working as a collections
specialist, she didn’t know if it
would be worth the time or energy.
Her then-fiancé, Ken, introduced
her to the health and wellness
company a month prior and she
signed up to be a Distributor.
They both loved the products and
the results they achieved; Ken
wanted to try the business opportunity,
but Chelsey was hesitant.
Ken was introduced to AdvoCare
by a co-worker at the gym he managed.
After testing out the products
and “going from good to
great” by gaining lean muscle and
reducing his body fat percentage,
he knew he could stand behind
them. Chelsey also loved the products
but didn’t see the business
potential until they met with their
mentors, Jen and Nate DeTracy.
“At first, I really just shared the
products like it was my business,”
says Ken. “I tried to connect with
everyone by asking questions.
I always try to get to know
more about people than
they know about me, whether
on the phone or in person.”
Seven months into it, they felt like
they hit a plateau with their businesses
and couldn’t figure out why.
They realized they needed to work
on their leadership skills, so they
got rid of the excuses and started
focusing on self development.
“We used the excuse that we were
on an island, and we weren’t close
to anyone for a while,” admits Ken.
They overcame their excuses by
leaning on their leaders for encouragement
and letting go of their
fears. Ken realized he needed to
step out of his comfort zone and
connect with everyone on his team,
even those he didn’t know, so he
set up calls and discussed expectations
and goals one-on-one.
A year later, Chelsey and Ken got
married and are now enjoying the
newlywed life. Their hard work and
dedication has paid off — Chelsey
was able to leave her full-time job in
2015. Their next goal is to become
the AdvoCare pioneers of Alaska.
Personal testimonials reflect individual experiences and are not necessarily typical of the results you may obtain. Results vary
