OSCEOLABOYS
The Osceola boys basketball
team is looking to bounce back
after an 8-15 season in 2016-17,
but will have to do so with a new
look roster.
The Bulldogs return only four
letterwinners under head coach
Brett Webster, who owns a career
58-76 record at the helm of the
program.
However, Osceola should be
optimistic heading into the
season as three seniors return to
make their mark, led by forward
Tristin Johnston.
Johnston posted 6.5 points and
5 rebounds a contest his junior
season.
Guard Caden Theis, who
averaged 8.4 points a game last
year, and senior guard Garrett
Fisher will also be asked to step
into large roles for the Bulldogs.
Up-and-coming players to keep
an eye on this season include
sophomore Carter Boden and
junior guard Hayden Watts.
“Last year we graduated six
players. We need to develop
some depth this year to help
ourselves out,” Webster said.
“We have a good core group of
seniors who will need some of
our younger guys to step up and
help out.”
The season tips off for the
Bulldogs on Nov. 30 against
Humphrey St. Francis.

The Osceola girl’s basketball
squad had an up-and-down 2016-
17 campaign, finishing the year
12-11 in Class D-1.
But the Bulldogs will have more
familiarity with second year head
coach Don Frenzen in 2017-
18, as they look to keep taking
strides in the right direction.
A trio of seniors will look to lead
Osceola this year, as forward
Samantha Hays, guard Ginni
Johansen, and guard Kylie Merry
all return to the hardwood.
In addition, junior forward
Kamryn Hahn will play
significant minutes come the start
of the season.
When asked what will lead to a
successful season, Frenzen laid
out of a list of factors that will
impact his squad.
“Patience learning a new
system, adjusting to changes
in personnel, and learning to
play together,” he said. “Also,
a positive attitude, staying
healthy as a team, and an
acknowledgment of goals.”
The season tips off for Osceola
on Nov. 30 when it battles St.
Francis.
