SHELTONBOYS
Coming off a 2-18 season, the
Shelton boy’s basketball squad
is in need of a fresh start.
Enter first year head coach Dan
Brown, who will look to get the
Bulldogs on the winning track
in 2017-18, and establish them
as a contenter in Class D-1.
For Brown, a solid mix of
returning talent and up-andcoming
athletes will fill out
the roster, including nine
letterwinners and four seniors.
A player to keep an eye on is
senior forward Nick Arbogast,
who averaged 3.7 points and
4.7 rebounds last year.
In addition, fellow seniors Case
Terry and Daniel Romera, as
well as sophomores Sterling
Wright and Ben Bombeck will
look to carve out significant
roles.
“(The keys to a successful
season are) good shot selection,
improved team chemistry, and
a more competitive attitude,”
Brown said. “We bring in some
new, young talent, but are not
an experienced team. We had a
good off season so we will see.”
The 2017-18 campaign will get
underway on Nov. 30 against
Elm Creek.

team is coming off a difficult
season, as the Bulldogs finished
the 2016-17 campaign with a
2-19 record.
Also looking to contribute will
be fellow seniors Bri Kennedy,
Halee Blackburn, Chloe
Hellerich, Sandra Sauceda, and
Harley Reilly.
for the Bulldogs on Nov. 30
against Elm Creek on the road.
But a new year brings a new
opportunity to succeed under
second year head coach Will
Reutzel, and with eight seniors
on the roster, a bounce-back
season is possible.
Experience will not be lacking
for the Bulldogs as they attempt
to navigate through Class D-1,
with seniors Jylissa Sinner,
Jeresa Sinner, and Nadia Pinon
all returning to the hardwood.
In addition, juniors Luryn
Hendrickson and Kathleen Juhl
will also battle for significant
playing time.
“Our team will need to continue
to improve fundamentals, learn
the game and how to play it
better, play better together, and
communicate with each other (to
be successful),” Reutzel said.
