Detectors on trailer
Luminite PIR detectors were on
show on the stand of 8point8 at the
Construction Week Show at the
NEC, Birmingham and again at
the Showman’s Show in Newbury.
8point8 were showing their mobile
CCTV trailer featuring a 4k HD
PTZ camera, tannoy and Luminite’s
Genesis passive infra-red (PIR)
detectors. The trailers are for event
and other temporary security, and
building sites. Michael Hall, Group
Communications Manager at
8point8 said: “Built in house by our
specialist electrical engineers, our
mobile trailers provide unbeatable
performance and security features
such as the Genesis detectors.” Two
styles of Genesis detectors are on
offer, G1 and G2; both on the 8point8
tower, pictured left. Both types come
as battery powered wireless or 12/24
volt hard wired. A new programming
feature with LED display aids set up
and configuration and enables new
menu options, Luminite add. p
DRONES COMPLY
Two police forces using
drones, Dorset, and
Devon and Cornwall,
have had that work
certificated by SSAIB,
the security and fire
sector certification
body. The forces can
operate these unmanned
aerial system (UAS)
drones in compliance
with the Surveillance
Camera Code of Practice. Uses, as
part of a strategic alliance between
the south west neighbours, include
missing people searches, crime
scene photography and responding
to major accidents. A six-month
trial saw the operational deployment
of an initial two drones with high
definition cameras, able to capture
video and still images. Aims for
the use of drones were identified,

VPS has
launched the
JCB Alert
Tower. It’s a
deployable
alarm tower that
can fit in a van
and be installed
in minutes, the asset protection
company says. The tower provides
a mobile, video-verified alarm with
beam detectors which can be used as
a stand-alone system, or integrated
with other VPS Site Security
products. With a range of up to 14m
in daylight and 12m at night-time,
the tower can be fitted with more
security, siren and safety systems.
David Taylor-Smith, CEO of VPS,
pictured, said the tower has been
designed in response to customers’
requests. The tower has a bright
yellow casing as a deterrent, and uses
GPRS RF wireless. p

downlink, meaning officers on the
ground can see drone live footage

Intelligent feeds: At the Intersec 2018 trade fair
in January in Dubai, SeeTec will be presenting
video management applications. The company
will present its new SeeTec Cayuga R11
product version in themed areas covering reallife-inspired
user scenarios. Andreas Conrad,

Town turns to sponsor
Shrewsbury Town Football Club have
set the pace so far in League One in
the 2017-18 football season, unlike
last season when they were nearly
relegated. It may be a coincidence,
but the club’s Sundorne training
ground was refurbished. That out of
town site required CCTV. Town’s
chief executive Brian Caldwell
approached one of the club’s main
sponsors Pro-Vision Distribution.
As a Shrewsbury-based distributor
of CCTV, access control and public
address kit, Pro-Vision were well
able to advise. After a site visit
from local and family-run installer
KJ Electronics Systems, Samsung
Wisenet cameras were fitted. The
agreed specification included four
vandal-resistant, true day-night
domes, a high definition external
bullet and a pan-tilt-zoom camera,
besides a network recorder. The true
day-night spec means the cameras can
be viewed 24-7 regardless of natural
daylight and the recorder can manage
any extra cameras as required. Any
alarm activation event is sent to
a central monitoring station via a
secured connection. p
