LED Lighting
GJD have launched their new Clarius
PLUS IP Infra-Red and White-Light LED
lighting range for networked-based
security use.
The range provides dedicated lighting
for IP cameras via Power over Ethernet
(PoE), for what the LED illuminator
makers term smart and integrated
lighting. All models feature dual core surface mount LED’s with
enhanced optical output and an interchangeable lens diffuser, to deliver
clear night time images with no hot spots, it’s claimed. Clarius PLUS
IP offers integration with third party video management software.
Besides the features of existing Clarius illuminators, the IP models
provide real time remote monitoring access via a secure web-based
interface. Adjustable settings include temporary power boost, light
pulsing mode for intruder deterrent, and timer functions for energy and
cost savings. Each Clarius IP has an anti-vandal shock sensor to deter.
For example, if an intruder throws a brick at the unit, the illuminator
will automatically detect and alarm.
Fisheye Dewarping
Hikvision, the video surveillance products
manufacturer, has announced a multiple
fisheye dewarping for Milestone Systems’
XProtect with Device Pack 9.0 (and later
versions). Hikvision’s fisheye network
cameras can be integrated with Milestone’s
network video management software,
enabling the Milestone Smart Client to
display the dewarped images captured by the
fisheyes in real-time with no distortion, the
firms say. Recorded video can be retrieved
and played back dewarped. Milestone customers will be able to use
just a single camera to provide 360 degree wide-area surveillance
coverage, without visual blind spots. The dewarping further enables
access to camera viewing modes such as 180 degrees, 360 degrees,
pan tilt and zoom (PTZ), PTZ-quad, and horizontal panoramic. Up to
12 views can be created in the Milestone Smart Client, with the pan
and tilt view allowing security operators to pan, tilt and zoom through
a scene – for a surveillance overview.
Hard Drive
New from storage product company
Seagate Technology plc is its SkyHawk
AI hard disk drive (HDD), the first drive
the firm says created specifically for
artificial intelligence (AI) enabled video
surveillance. The drive is for managing
always-on, data-intensive workloads,
while analysing and recording footage
from multiple HD cameras; it comes in
10TB and 8TB sizes, each supporting up
to 64 HD cameras. Analytics on video
surveillance hardware is growing
exponentially, forecasted to increase from
27.6 million shipments in 2016 to 126m
shipments in 2021, as hardware manufacturers continue to include
analytics sensors on network video recorders (NVRs). This will only
increase as AI – particularly deep learning and machine learning
applications, such as facial recognition and analyzing irregularities in
behaviour – come into wider use. As the need for fast video analytics
will continue to rise, that too will add to the workload for NVR
storage, Seagate adds.
Control System
Intergrated Security
Manufacturing (ISM), the
developer of its Genesys
integrated security
management system (ISMS),
a technology that goes
beyond PSIM according
to the firm, has launched an Enterprise version. Already deployed
within the Critical National Infrastructure (CNI) sector, the new
ISMS is described as an enhancement of the existing Genesys2.
Genesys is scalable to manage and control multiple sites from a
single control room (or even a single workstation) across a country,
or even across continents. It features encryption to ensure network
security, and is accredited to the highest standards of government
national infrastructure security, the makers report. Steve Smith,
Managing Director of ISM, says that the extension of the Genesys
range gives customers greater choice: “Genesys Enterprise resolves
issues associated with the increasing geographical scope of clients,
corporations, governments and institutions, while adhering to a
multi-tiered hierarchy (or ‘federated’ system), where total control is
centralised but allows individual sites to maintain local control.”
Metal Mesh
An expanded metal mesh product
manufacturer, The Expanded
Metal Company, has relaunched
its ExMesh Securilath range of
physical security products.
It’s in line with their Loss
Prevention Certification Board
certification. That range now
comes in SR1 (light), SR2 (heavy) and SR3 (double-skinned) versions,
which match their accreditations under LPCB LPS 1175: Issue 7. At its
highest certification level (SR3), the mesh can protect against forced
entry using tools such as axes, crowbars, hacksaws and cordless drills,
according to the Hartlepool-based firm. George Hutchinson, product
manager for ExMesh, said: “Securilath is a versatile material which
can be easily situated within internal and external walls, ceilings, roofs
and windows, with the aim of delaying intruders from creating an
aperture large enough to gain entry to a premises.”
Door Entry
Videx has launched
its vandal resistant
GSM system.
The firm says that
the product is for
gated properties,
office blocks and commercial buildings. Proximity access control is an
option. The product can operate doors, automatic gates, car parks and
remote site applications, as security for unmanned sites and outside of
business hours. It comes as part of the 4000 Series modular door entry
system in a range of styles including surface and flush panels in 12
gauge 316 grade stainless steel. Custom panel sizes are also available.
All vandal resistant panel variations can be engraved with legend or
provided with back-lit name plate windows. Neil Thomas, National
Sales Manager at Videx, said: “GSM systems enable calls to be placed
from an entrance point to any mobile or land line telephone. Entry can
then be granted using the telephone keypad. “ The product can call up
to 24 users, with a divert facility of up to three numbers if the others
are engaged or unanswered, and up to 1000 ‘phone numbers can be
stored for use in the ‘dial to open’ feature whereby callers dial the
intercom and release the door/gate without being charged for the call.
