Crimp Tool
The IDEAL FT-45 Feed-Thru Modular Plugs and
Crimp Tool are now available in Europe.
The modular plugs and crimp tool with IDEAL
Networks data cable testers offer an end-to-end
solution, say the tool and test product suppliers.
The plugs are single-piece connectors, removing
the need to assemble a three-piece connector,
even when working with CAT6 cable. This makes
terminations faster and more consistent, and makes
the process for working with CAT5e and CAT6 identical, the product
company says. The modular plugs eliminate much of the complexity,
the makers add. This also makes it easier for new twisted pair
installers to convert from coax to data, according to the firm. To
speed the assembly process, installers no longer need to spend time
pre-trimming conductor wires to a specific length. Instead, to get
started IT people remove an appropriate section of jacket, remove
the centre spline (if present), untwist the pairs into the right order,
X-ray Scanner
The latest TR15 + Smart Scan cabinet scanner
from Todd Research provides threat detection
and image management in cabinet scanners.
The product has a new software platform and
an intuitive user interface via a 22-inch touch
screen monitor. A digital camera and X-ray
generator delivers the images, while the touch
screen interface provides access to all tools for
image processing. With its three-point density
alert, operators can define the elements of a
‘suspect device’, such as metal parts, detonators
and batteries. The EPD (enhanced powder detection) software also
allows the makers say greater recognition of ‘powder’ and bio threats.
Images are stored locally automatically or on an external hard drive
for reference and verification. One touch email enables escalation of
potential suspect images. The smart card login means the scanner can
be configured to enable data collection of each user’s sessions.
Signature
Tablets
Evolis, the French plastic
card product company,
has released its new,
entry level Sig100 Lite,
pictured; and top-of-therange
Sig Activ models. Sig Activ tablet operates with built-in ERT
(Electromagnetic Resonance Technology): meaning that the tablet
screen will only respond to contact with the stylus provided with the
device. This prevents the appearance of any unwanted strokes on the
screen, whether from the hand of the signatory, or any other object.
This model has been designed for a life cycle of up to 30 million
signatures. Its screen has a palette of 16 million colours. The Sig100
Lite tablet with no LCD screen has integrated resistive technology:
the signature capture is achieved by pressing on the tablet with the
provided stylus. There is no dependency between tablet and stylus so
the stylus can be replaced. Customer signature can be recorded for
identity documents, or validation of electronic documents.
and trim the ends flat. The cable can
then be slid into the connector until
seated. As the wires are fed through
the clear connector they can be seen,
enabling installers to visually verify the
correct wiring order. This is far easier
than looking through the plug’s shell,
as with a standard connector, according
to the manufacturers. The open-ended
feed-thru plug includes three-pin
contacts, rather than the two-pins seen
in most other RJ45 modular plugs. This
improves wire stability by providing
three prong contacts into every wire for more conductive contact
points, as well as a better transfer rate, it’s claimed. Once the wires
are fed through, the user can pull the cable into the plug, allowing
the twists to be pulled to the front of the connector. This provides
better radio-frequency and minimal untwisting, while ensuring that
the cable jacket is secured under the strain relief tab, the makers say.
To complete the process, the installer places the assembled plug into
the Crimp Tool and squeezes the handle to the closed position.
PSIM Partner
Visual Management Systems
Ltd, the UK developer of the
Titan Vision PSIM (physical
security information management
System), has joined the
Technology Partner Program of
Arecont Vision, the US-based IP
megapixel camera manufacturer. Jay Shields, Managing Director
for Visual Management Systems said: “Our complete, tailored
PSIM solutions help our customers and partners to integrate and
manage the largest and most complex security systems in a variety
of verticals. The excellent image quality from the Arecont Vision
cameras allows our applications to work at peak performance.”
Titan Vision is described by the UK developer as open platform,
vendor-independent, and ONVIF conformant. Arecont’s partners
have sales, development, and support contacts companies to
validate integration of new features.
Home Cameras
Dahua Technology released its H.265
Consumer Series of products earlier this
year. It is now available in most markets.
These cameras include the indoor cube
model C26, pictured; and the pan and
tilt model A26, aimed at homes and
small retail. Each camera comes with
2MP image sensor, and uses H.265
compression, for saving up to 50 per cent the product company
says on bandwidth and storage. With an Easy4ip cloud account, you
can have access to your camera through your smart phone over the
internet. You can record daily or motion videos on Easy4ip Cloud
and play back. Also, the Easy4ip platform supports IFTTT, which
enables the cameras to interact with other smart home applications,
such as Philippe Hue and Amazon Alexa. By supporting motion
detection, the cameras will be triggered to send you a message
whenever a motion event happens. With infra-red LED and Dahua
Smart IR algorithm the cameras automatically switch the night
mode on and off, and they can adjust brightness of the IR LED.
