Science Department
2016 has been an exciting
year for the Science
Department. Our students
have continued to
perform with enthusiasm
and have achieved
outstanding NCEA results.
The department is blessed to have
a team of committed professionals
who work collaboratively to
produce teaching resources and
discuss teaching strategies while
keeping track of students’ progress
and successes and inspiring them
to fulfil their ambitions.
We continue to make good
use of resources available in
Auckland with trips to Auckland
Zoo, Arataki, The Liggins Institute,
The University of Auckland and
Otago University Advanced School
Sciences Academy. These trips are
part of our NCEA assessments and
have provided real perspective for
our learners. We will continue to
broaden our students’ horizons by
visiting places such as Fonterra,
AgResearch, Middlemore Hospital
and Ambury Regional Farm in
2017.
Science is perceived by many
students as a ‘difficult’ subject and
as a result, fewer students have
challenged themselves in the field
of Science. What many students
do not recognise is that Science
is needed for the future of this
country. Those who have taken
this journey have accomplished
their dreams and are reaping
the fruit of their successes in
the workforce locally as well as
abroad.
'...Science
is needed
for the
future
of this
country.'
