BURGLARY ARREST<br />
Police have praised a person who<br />
alerted them to suspicious behaviour<br />
at a St Albans address on<br />
Friday morning which led to the<br />
arrest of a 27-year-old man for burglary.<br />
Senior Sergeant Chris Scott<br />
said several staff, including a dog<br />
team, cordoned off Weston Rd and<br />
located the offender hiding inside<br />
an address on that road.<br />
BOARD MEETINGS BEGIN<br />
Community boards in the northwest<br />
will resume normal meetings<br />
every two weeks from February.<br />
The first meeting of the Papanui-<br />
Innes Community Board will<br />
be on February 10 at 9am in the<br />
Gerry Papanui Library. The Brown<br />
Fendalton-<br />
Harewood-Waimairi Community<br />
Board meeting will be on February<br />
13 at 4pm in the Fendalton Service<br />

Ilam MP Gerry Brownlee is<br />
not moving out of his Greers Rd<br />
electorate office.<br />
“It is the rear section for let,<br />
not here,” Mr Brownlee said.<br />
Residents were wondering if he<br />
was moving out of the area.<br />
“We saw the sign and thought<br />
he is taking off,” said Gail Scott,<br />
of Bryndwr.<br />
When Mr Brownlee’s office<br />
was contacted on Friday by<br />
Nor’West <strong>News</strong>, MP support<br />
Allie Benny said she had<br />
wondered if it was going to cause<br />
some confusion.<br />
“Don’t worry, he is not<br />
moving,” she said.<br />
“They will have to carry him<br />
out of here.”<br />
Mr Brownlee has held the Ilam<br />
seat since 1996 and is<br />
the Minister of Defence,<br />
Leader of the House, Minister<br />
of Civil Defence, Minister<br />
Responsible for the Earthquake<br />
Commission, and Minister<br />
supporting Greater Christchurch<br />
Regeneration.<br />
WASTEWATER PIPE WORK<br />
McConnell Dowell will repair<br />
wastewater networks in Papanui,<br />
Bishopdale and Northcote over the<br />
next week. It will repair pipes on<br />
Chapel St, Hoani St, Gambia St,<br />
Gardiners Rd, Vagues Rd, Grants<br />
Rd, Winters Rd, Grampian St,<br />
Phoenix Lane, Bourne Cres, Bainton<br />
St, Reynolds Ave, Martbern<br />
Cres, Oldwood St, Langdons Rd,<br />
Frank St and Wyndham St. There<br />
may be lane reductions, shoulder<br />
closures, a one-way system and<br />
turning restrictions in place.<br />
