DOG REGISTRATION STARTS
IN JULY
It’s that time of year again when
all dog owners must ensure
that their dogs are registered.
All dogs older than 3 months
must be registered every year
(July-June) under the Dog
Control Act 1996. It’s a $300 fine
for an unregistered dog. A reregistration
notice will arrive in
your inbox or letterbox by 1 July.
Registration Fee (Inclusive of GST)
The 2017-18 fee falls due
on 1 July 2017 and may be
paid throughout the month of
July. This may be done via a
payment link when the form is
emailed, internet banking, at
our Rolleston Headquarters
or service centres in Leeston,
Darfield or Lincoln. Alternatively,
you may use the prepaid return
envelope provided with your
registration form.
If paid by 31 July 2017, the
discounted registration fee
applicable is:
· A $10 administration/owner fee
· $30 for each dog owned by the
same person and held at the
same locality.
For payments after 31 July
2017 the full registration fee
Meetings
Public Forums: Council,
Community Board and local
committee meetings are open
to the public. Time is available at
the start of meetings for people
to speak on matters of concern.

Tag and Collar Fees (Inclusive
of GST)
The fee for a replacement dog
tag is $5 and for a dog collar $9-
$11 depending on the size.
These fees and charges are set
under Sections 37, 38 and 68 of
the Dog Control Act 1996.
GANSU INTERNATIONAL
FELLOWSHIP PROGRAMME
Applications are invited from
people in Selwyn between the
ages of 22-50 in good health
and of good character to attend
the sponsored fellowship
programme 1-30 September
2017. It assists delegates to
learn the Chinese culture, better
understand China and Gansu,
enhance mutual understanding
and friendship and improve cooperation
and communication.
The programme is in association
with the Selwyn District Council
Sister City Committee. The
Gansu Provincial People’s
Government sponsor the cost of
flights, tuition, accommodation
and a living allowance of $220
NZ dollars. Applications close
on 3 July 2017. Please email

DISRUPTION TO MALVERN
WATER RACE SERVICE
Selwyn District Council is
starting construction of a
new fish screen facility at
the Waimakariri Gorge Water
Race intake, and Glentunnel
Water Race intake as required
by Environment Canterbury
consent conditions.
During the construction period,
mid-June to August, the water
race supply in the Malvern
scheme may be disrupted. The
Waimakariri Gorge Intake race
may need to be shut down
for construction. The Kowai
intake will be used to continue
to provide supply. Disruption
to water race users will be
minimised where possible.

disruption should be directed
to the Council’s Surface Water
Team on 318 8338.
RESIDENTS SURVEY
The Council’s Annual Residents
Survey is now underway. The
survey allows the Council
to monitor our performance
across a number of services
like parks, roads, water, libraries
and swimming pools by asking
for feedback from residents.
Around 400 Selwyn households
will be asked to participate in the
survey via telephone and online.
