in February, 1916, I established a feeding-place for birds close<br />

to the side of a building, with the primary object of obtaining bird<br />

photographs.<br />

For feed I obtained several bushels of weed-seed at a local grain-elevator,<br />

and this waste proved to be an ideal bird-food as it contained almost every<br />

kind of weed-seed indigenous to this section of the state.<br />

A small artificial mound of snow was made and seed scattered on its slope,<br />

SNOW BUNTINGS, HORNED LARKS AND TREE SPARROWS
