148 | Nozzles
Nordson Precision Nozzles Offer:
• Superior control of adhesive placement in bead, slot, and spray applications.
• Nozzle-to-nozzle consistency in adhesive flow rates for reliable adhesive bonds.
Specifying Nozzles
For superior nozzle performance, proper specification of nozzle type is important. Below are the criteria for
determining the correct nozzle type for your application:
Pattern
• Nozzles can apply beads, spray, or slot patterns.
Number of orifices per nozzle
• Choose single-orifice nozzles for single beads or spray.
• Choose multi-orifice nozzles for multiple beads.
Style of applicator
• Nozzle part numbers are different for different applicator types. Identify your applicator type to get the proper nozzle style.
Nozzle angle position to applicator module
• Right-angle nozzles are available when your nozzle must be positioned at a 90° angle to the applicator’s mounted position.
Orifice diameter = width of the nozzle opening
• Smaller orifice diameters reduce adhesive flow. Nozzles for automatic applicators are available in orifice diameters of 0.008 in.
(small) to 0.040 in. (large).
Engagement = length of the orifice channel
(i.e., the distance from the point where the needle meets the seat and the nozzle tip)
• Longer engagements (0.150 in. to 0.300 in.) decrease adhesive flow but increase adhesive velocity.
