ELECTION PREVIEW
ELECTION PREVIEW, from page 11
son roads. … We have a great parks system,
and I want to keep that going strong.
Mayor • Cynthia [Cindy] Pool
I’m running for office because we’re
kind of at a crossroads now, especially
with economic development. … Our job
as councilmembers, and the same is true
of planning and zoning, is that we’re supposed
to find the best possible use for any
available property, and we haven’t been
doing that for the last five years. We’ve
basically been letting anything go anywhere,
and I’d like us to get back to following
our comprehensive plan, which is
there for a purpose. … I want to get back
on that path of what we’re supposed to be
doing and what is best for the city.
City Council
District 1 • Stephen Chismarich*
In my short term as a councilmember, I
have had fun getting to know more people
in our city. I enjoy serving our residents
and being a part of the community. It is a
very rewarding way to give back. If elected,
I hope to continue making decisions that
represent the values of District 1 residents,
which will positively impact the growth
and redevelopment of our city as a whole,
while preserving our neighborhoods and
parks. With the decrease of brick-and-mortar
retail, a top priority is to increase our
tax revenues and maintain our city services
by encouraging businesses that match the
needs of our community while doing our
best to adhere to Ellisville’s long-term
comprehensive plan.
District 1 • Eric Huesemann
I want to assure that residents receive
exceptional services from all the city’s
departments. Residents always will come
first. I will work diligently to promote new
businesses to make their way to the city of
Ellisville and occupy the too many existing
vacant buildings. I will encourage the city
of Ellisville to do business with businesses
inside the Ellisville city limits. I ultimately
will keep Ellisville city government very
professional and highly respected throughout
the St. Louis metropolitan area.
EUREKA
Board of Aldermen
Ward 1 • Robert A. Berry
This is a critical time in our city. … We
need to elect people to represent us who
know how to get things done. … I have
a proven track record as your mayor and
alderman. My priorities are resolving traffic
issues and concerns with MoDOT along
Fifth Street and Hwy. 109 due to increased
residential developments in the area; seek
the best economic development opportunities
to expand the tax base and satisfy
residents needs for shopping; solve the
flooding issues with long-term solutions
…; seek new and better ways to fund projects;
and make strategic planning a major
priority to resolve future issues and major
capital improvements.
Ward 1 • Keith Messmer
Eureka needs new and fresh ideas in
city hall. We have had the same people
representing us for the past 20-plus years.
Eureka has failed to entice new businesses
or restaurants to our city and has
become reliant on tax increases to pay for
problems that have existed for a decade
or more. My top priorities if elected are:
bring new businesses to Eureka, communicate
better with the residents so that
they are aware of the things happening in
our city, improve the water quality, instill
better fiscal responsibility and stop wasteful
spending.
Ward 2 • Bryan Kiefer
I am running to make Eureka stronger
with experience. I have 11 years of
experience in planning and zoning as a
commission member and 30-plus years
construction experience, and community
involvement. My top priorities are infrastructure
work [roads], business growth,
traffic issues and sit-down restaurants.
Ward 2 • Lisa Smith
Our family has called Eureka home for
almost 22 years ... now [our children] are
buying their first homes here. … I am running
for alderman because I sincerely care
about my neighbors, our town and our
future. … I want to work with my neighbors
to ensure that they have a voice … I
want to take their ideas and concerns to the
table and get things done for them. Our
new neighbors are going to bring certain
challenges to Eureka. We will have additional
police and fire protection needs,
traffic challenges and the continued need
for adequate shopping and dining options.
Additionally, long-term flooding solutions
should be a top priority for Eureka.
Ward 3 • Jerry Holloway
MANCHESTER
Mayor • Mike Clement
I really think it is time for change … I think
I can bring better leadership to the city to
address the issues that need change. I want
to be far more diligent in looking at revenues
and expenditures on a quarterly basis and at
year-end. … There is a need to engage the
stakeholders of the community: residents,
