In order to make a change people
need to talk about it, and highlight the
importance of it all; no woman should
ever feel unsafe when walking alone,
dancing in a club or being at her workplace.
Many people were shocked by the rapid
spread of the hashtag, suddenly your
colleague, neighbor, sister or teammate
started telling their story. Their experience
and what they have had to live
through. The large number of women
who have stories to tell is overwhelming,
something that has led to a lot of
people to think and realize its importance.
Today‘s society has a problem,
and it is a problem which deserves each
and every piece of attention it is given.
A Fight Spanning Decades
The fight that women all over the world
are fighting today is not newly emerged.
It is a war that has been fought for decades,
only now new aspects have risen.
The first wave of the feminist‘s movement
came in the 1920‘s when women
started to fight for voting rights. The
second wave of the feminist movement
occurred during the 1960‘s and 1970‘s
when women had voting rights, but
still had no voice when it came to their
workplace environment or household,
the man always had the upper hand.
Women wanted to do more with their
life than what was expected from them,
more than to take care of the house and
children. Even though this is an important
task the women thought it was
unfair that they were barely allowed to
have a job, and the types of work they
