enormously and led to huge losses for
the giant in the social media world thus
triggering reforms in the way personal
information is treated.
Another strong evidence for the direction
in which the way of governance
evolves is the recent statement by the
president of France himself. Coming
in very convenient time, in my opinion,
Macron’s words establish AI as an
essential part of the political process
in the close future. An investment of
1.5 billion euros speaks for itself about
the importance of technological development
for the young politician. His
extensive interview for Wired can be
easily summarized by his own words:
“Technological revolution is, in fact, a
political revolution”. Therefore, to keep
his political power in this era, it is necessary
to get on the wave of artificial
intelligence development. Nevertheless,
what will determine us as society is to
what extent ethical considerations remain
in the decision-making process. I
cannot agree more with France’s head
of state that we must remain true to our
values and be intransigent to unethical
use of our personal data. That is the only
way to find our way in the informational
storm that is surrounding us.

In this sense, I find JIBS&’ core values
extremely relevant to the future of governance
as I hope it would be. In order
to benefit from global cooperation in
technological advance, it is essential
political executives to remain “international
at heart”. To remain at the edge
of progress, being “entrepreneurial
in mind” is needed and an innovative
leader like Macron is aware of that. And
about our ethical stance regarding our
development as a society, “responsible
in action” must be the ground rule for
the leaders of tomorrow. Therefore, as
aspiring leaders and proud JIBSers, we
must be keen to the values we are educated
in and continue promoting them
in future.
