Boys Hockey vs Eduplex – 16 May
2018 (Away)
As the fourth round of the league
started, Curro Roodeplaat was set to
face Eduplex for the first away game
of the season.
Point for this game were given to
Curro Roodeplaat as Eduplex used
senior players in the team. The juniors
stood their ground against a side that
outmatched them. The first half came
to a close with the scores level at 1-1
and the second half produces one
goal, which ended the game 1-2 for
Eduplex.
The seniors played on grass during
the pre-season tour as preparation
for the upcoming league games. This
game was what they were preparing
for to determine if the tour was
successful. The game started sloppily
as the transition from playing on astro
to playing on grass is not that simple.
After almost 10 minutes into the game,
Thato Matlaila scored and broke the
tension. The first half produced 3
more goals for Curro Roodeplaat and
a further 4 goals in the second half,
and with that, our first away victory of
the season ended 0-8 in the favour of
Curro Roodeplaat.

Round 5 of the boys hockey league
saw Curro Roodeplaat facing Affies on
Roodeplaat’s home ground. Judging
by the season’s results, this was going
to be a tough game for the juniors.
Affies scored first and added another
goal in the first half to have a 0-2
advantage at half time. Roodeplaat
came back with one goal in the second
half but unfortunately, the game ended
with 1-2 which was the first loss for the
juniors in the season.
After a mistake from Affies, the senior
team scored their first goal in less than
a minute after the game started. The
ball found the back of the goal another
four times in the first half and the team
added four more goals in the second
half to end the match 9-0 for the home
side.

The result of this game determined
if the junior team would be going to
playoffs or not. The pressure was on
as they had to win, or this would be
