he Group started the year with two successful events.
Our Jumble Sale in February raised £283, thank you all who
contributed articles for sale and, of course, our band of
helpers, not forgetting those seeking bargains.
The annual Duck Race was a great success raising over £200. The weather was kind,
especially with the not-so-good Spring we have endured. Thank you to the large
number of people who came, and enjoyed a burger or hot dog before the big race,
and also to those who purchased ducks. This is our favourite event of the year and
such fun.
Now the weather is at last changing for the better (not when the editor was at work
on this article!) the Sections are planning many outside activities and camps for the
summer.
A party of 23 Cubs and Beavers much enjoyed a PGL weekend in March held at
Herstmonceux. There were lots of activities to try and join in. We are pleased how
well our young people behaved and represented Westfield.
As usual we are seeking adult Leaders so we can offer even more fun for the young
people and hopefully re-start the Scout troop. There are vacancies in the Cub Pack
for boys or girls in the age group 8 – 10 years so if your son or daughter would like to
give it a try please contact Frances on 754548.
