hen the sun came out in April and the rain ceased, we were able to practise<br />
on the bowls green. It was short lived but, fingers crossed, as I write that we<br />
will be able to return to the green soon. We have plans for a very busy<br />
summer with well over fifty games against other clubs and our own club competitions.<br />
Also two tournaments will be held to help with always essential fund raising.<br />
On Saturday 7 July from 2 pm there is a Family Barbecue Fun day. Admission is free<br />
with a small charge for food. Everyone is welcome to watch or have a go, but only if you<br />
are over 14 years due to health and safety rules as the bowls are heavy.<br />
We are off by coach to Wingate near Rochester, Kent, on Sunday 15 July for a game in<br />
the afternoon. Leaving Westfield at 10 am sharp, members have about two hours to<br />
look around Rochester and most have lunch too. Those playing are taken on, then<br />
everyone is back on the coach about 5.30 – 6 pm reaching home around 8 pm. The<br />
cost per person is around £17 max; there are a few places available to non-members<br />
resident in Westfield. To book a seat or have more information please contact me,<br />

Members are at the clubhouse every Wednesday and Friday<br />
from 2 pm if you want to come along for a chat and cup of tea<br />
(£1). Unfortunately the Zumba classes have ceased for the<br />
time being. Watch this space if they resume.<br />
The Defibrillator is now installed and we are waiting for it to be registered. An expert will<br />
give us a demonstration.<br />
Due to work commitments of the present secretary, the Bowls Club is looking for<br />
someone who is available to come to committee meetings about every 6 weeks. The job<br />
involves taking the minutes and sending them out to the committee with the agenda in<br />
time for the next meeting. There is a little extra work for the AGM. If interested, please<br />
