Volunteer Awards
This year the certificates went to:
Ian Taylor – Chairman of the Cricket Club
In recognition of Ian’s dedication and support of the
Cricket Club and his continued efforts with the exciting
new pavilion project. This award however is
particularly for his efforts with developing the youth
team, junior coaching and working with the school to
encourage children to take up cricket as a sport.
Window on Westfield
Dionne Homewood – Westfield Village Rocks
This is a new initiative that Dionne started, and she
continues to manage the FaceBook page and paint
hundreds of rocks. The idea is that people decorate rocks
which they hide around the village, which are then found
and re-hidden. The project has really sparked people’s
imaginations and has encouraged residents to get out and
about in the village and has proven to be a real success.
Jon & Gill Attewell – Westfield Football Club
This certificate was presented in recognition of their
dedication to the club over several years. Jon is
groundsman, tea lady, team driver, handyman and
away supporter. Gill is the Club’s Secretary and
Treasurer. Both have been actively involved with the
club since 2009 and have been instrumental in the
smooth running of the Football Club.
The Rose Bowl
Since 2005 the Rose Bowl is given each year to mark dedication and
community spirit shown by an individual volunteer over many years, which
brings a community benefit to the residents of Westfield.
Richard Milward – Westfield Christmas Lights
Richard has been involved for many years
with the Christmas Lights which now seem
to be world famous. He has been
instrumental in organising the collections for
St Michael’s Hospice, which raises
thousands of pounds every year. Last year
the lights raised a fantastic £10,385.29.
Richard has now stepped down from
organising the collections, and we wish him
well, but would like to thank him for
everything that he has done over the years.
