Westfield Youth FC
ur February to May update for the readers of the Community
O newsletter mentioned our intention to develop more youth sides at
age groups u7 to u17. Some of these plans have been delayed by actions of unknown
persons trying to take over the Guestling Playing fields from its current tenants. A very
disappointing outcome when we are trying to provide a sound, stable and supportive
club framework to provide sport opportunities for young children in the rural areas. We
will update the community as soon as plans are in place and hope residents will
support the club. Our vision for the future will be to provide teams at all age groups, but
this takes volunteers, from committee members, team managers and assistants to our
wonderful parents and players and helpers. If you would like to get involved please
contact our chairman graham@knightaccountants.co.uk
As I previously reported we have two youth teams this season. The u13 + 14’s. This
season is coming to a close, delayed by the very wet winter weather, with the last
games due to be played by the first weeks in May.
Results have been difficult to achieve for our u14 side who are looking to add to their
squad of boys & girls for next season. Contact Paul phobden@icloud.com.
The u13 have had more success getting to the Top Flight Trophy Cup final at The
Polegrove against a strong Bexhill Utd team. The occasion was made more special as
the Westfield boys won the match 4-1. Champions 2018.
The team also have a chance to win their league, they need to beat Hastings Utd in an
upcoming fixture at the parish field (and win the rest of their games!!) so still a tough
task. Hopefully I can report this news in the next newsletter. The team may have space
for next season contact Heath heath.moir@gmail.com
With summer almost here you may notice work being carried out soon on the main
grass area of the parish field. This is funded by the club to improve the playing surface
and its durability. We hope it doesn't spoil residents enjoyment of the field whilst it's
completed.
Don't forget to contact us if you want to get involved, have a child or group of children
that are looking to join a team, or can help the club as a volunteer or by sponsorship.
