THE GREAT PLASTIC PICK UP
The battle against plastic pollution launched by the Mail in May and supported
by the Keep Britain Tidy organisation was a great success with school
children across the country.
It is now time for us adults to build on this initiative and to set a good example
to our children by picking up the litter we see on the street outside our own homes. We
have the duty to teach these - the future generations - by our example. John Butterworth
Many members attended the East Sussex Federation of Women’s Institutes
annual meeting at the Kings Church Hall on The Ridge where they enjoyed two
very different talks which were both very entertaining.
Our February speaker, Mr. Ken Brooks, gave us an interesting talk on “Hastings
in Wartime – The British Spirit” telling us how the community was there to help
everybody. This was followed by a short talk by firemen who came to advise us
on the safety in our homes and at our meeting place.
In March our talk was “Tales from the Time of the British Raj” and how it
affected those living in India. The speaker was Mrs. Rukshana Master BA and
she also showed us some very interesting slides.
In April The Rother Group Meeting was held at Westfield and members from the
