• Uses established criteria to assess that<br />

image quality is of an acceptable standard.<br />

• Determines whether the clinical question<br />

can be answered from the images obtained<br />

• Normal anatomical structures can be<br />

correctly identified.<br />

• Abnormal findings can be recognised.<br />

• Recognises normal and abnormal<br />

appearances of diagnostic images which<br />

may indicate a pathological process.<br />

• Conveys information regarding normal and<br />

abnormal appearances to the treating<br />

limitations of diagnostic imaging<br />

• Knowledge and application of how to use<br />

the imaging equipment safely and<br />

• Knows if the equipment is functioning<br />

correctly, and removes malfunctioning<br />

equipment from operation until the fault is<br />

rectified.<br />

• Limitations of the equipment are known<br />

and an examination is not attempted if a<br />

diagnostic outcome cannot be achieved.<br />

• Understands and applies the quality<br />

assurance processes relevant to medical<br />

imaging, including those specific to any<br />

subspecialties worked in.<br />
