Customers supported by Essex Cares
Limited (ECL) have successfully launched
a brand new online shop, selling unique
products designed and made by adults
with learning disabilities.
ECL’s customers have started to sell a range of bespoke products
at www.ecl.org/shop.
When asked about their thoughts on the new shop, ECL’s
customers said: “It feels good, I feel very helpful. I’m very happy
doing it.” Jamie Rayment, Saffron Carpentry said “I help cut up
all of the wood for the things we sell, I feel proud of the work
we do.” Roy Swain, Saffron Carpentry said “The products are
created by ECL’s Work Based Training enterprises; enabling
adults with learning disabilities to gain knowledge, skills and
confidence in a variety of sectors, enhancing their opportunities
for employment in the future”. Keir Lynch, Chief Executive at
ECL said: “We see this as a great way to offer products made by
our customers with learning disabilities to a broader range of
people. It’s another important step in helping our customers
become independent and enjoy the benefits of employment. We
want our customers to have the same aspirations as everyone
else and it’s great to think that at some point in the future their
products will be being shipped worldwide.”
All products are handmade and include keyrings, mosaics,
greeting cards, wooden plant pots and a hanging bird feeder.
