Love
& loathe
So far, 2018 has seen some interesting
fashion emerge, to say the least.
Words Ella James
LOVE.
The trends that have us ticking up the credit card…
THE COLOUR YELLOW
Add a bit of zest to your wardrobe.
Regardless of the weather outside, yellow clothing will brighten
everyone’s mood. Barrister and celebrity style icon Amal Clooney
has been showing us how it’s done, so take note. This particular
colour looks best in the form of a mid- to long-length dress, no
matter what time of the year. A wooden clutch and jewellery to
match will complement your new favourite dress perfectly. Sales
of yellow dresses and blouses have risen significantly worldwide,
so now’s the perfect time to get your claws on one.
ZODIAC-INSPIRED STYLE
It’s written in the stars.
From nail art to statement handbags, the zodiac trend has
rocketed back into the limelight and we’re over the moon about
it. Zodiac-inspired jewellery has really taken our fancy and there’s
plenty on the market. Whilst trends come and go, your zodiac
sign is pretty personal, so we’re definitely in favour of investing in
a piece of jewellery that represents yours. Astrology may or may
not be something you’re interested in, but either way, it looks
damn good. We think the world of Givenchy’s offering.
TRENCH COATS
Fully practical, fully timeless.
The trench coat trend is one that comes back time after time,
and every time it does, we wonder how we ever lived without
it. Naturally, trench coats and Burberry go hand in hand, but a
plethora of other brands have upped their game considerably, so
there are plenty of options from which to choose. Wide ranges
of colours are available, but we’re not sure you should stray from
that classic camel shade. Pair yours with denim or a maxi skirt and
make sure the one you pick is waterproof; a damp trench coat
isn’t a good look.
BELT BAGS
For hands-free style
And we’re not talking about the bulky Velcro kind tourists wear
on holiday. The new era of belt bags are sleek, subtle and stylish.
From high-waisted jeans and a simple T-shirt during the day to
your favourite dress in the evening, they’re perfectly capable of
upgrading any outfit. We’d choose one in a rich shade of olive or
navy, but if you’re looking to make more of a statement, there
are piles of brightly coloured and embellished options available,
although picking just one will likely be an issue. Bank card, phone
and lipstick all in one safe, on-trend place.
